Can't believe it's been six months since I've posted something on here. By the time a few months had passed, it was daunting to think about updating all the pictures and such. Well, I'm gonna update just by writing and maybe a picture or two. Ok, I'll start. February 19 was Caitlin's birthday as she turned 2. We had a Mickey and Minnie party just like last year. Why mess up a good thing, huh? And I recycled some of her decorations from last year.
We took a family beach trip to Garden City. My aunt is gracious to let us stay in their beach house. We were apprehensive about the trip because Caitlin hates the sand here at home. She doesn't do sand boxes or play grounds that have sand under them. Well, we were pleasantly surprised at how she did. She loved the water and the sand at the beach. Played all the time and we enjoyed watching her. We took her to the Dixie Stampede and she was amazed at all the animals. Also went to the aquarium which she sort of liked. We couldn't have asked for better behavior from her during the whole trip. She slept on a pallet on the floor and didn't whine or fuss much at all. One funny thing that she said on the trip....I was putting sunscreen on Lee before we went down to the beach. Caitlin came up and said "a bell." I looked puzzled and said "a bell?" She said "ding ding" like we didn't know what a bell sounded like. Lee tried to hold it together, but he was laughing so hard. The funny things kids say.
One big thing going on is that we are expecting baby #2. We are excited that God has blessed us with another child to raise for Him. We are due on New Years Eve. God does have a sense of humor, doesn't He? Since that's such a slow time of year and all! Anyway, I was pretty exhausted and grouchy during my first trimester. Lee might argue that the grouchiness hasn't gone away :) What can I say? The nausea is better though and I'm not constantly looking for a place to take a nap. Caitlin is adjusting to the idea that there's a baby in Mommy's belly and tells the baby good morning and good night, hugs and kisses my belly, and listens to the heartbeat with us. I have a doppler here at home and can listen whenever I'd like. She likes that too. I've begun to feel little movements here and there which is a great feeling. I sure have grown faster with this pregnancy. Certainly can't fit in pre-pregnancy clothes at this point. Guess that's the way it goes!
Lee has been busy with the youth and children this summer. He is currently at SummerSalt camp with his second group at White Oak Conference Center. It's been a challenge for him to be gone for two weeks, but Caitlin sure enjoys her Daddy time when he gets home. We try to talk every day and I send pics via the phone to him. Some way of letting him know what's going on at home. The Lord has really moved in the hearts of these young people and for that I am very thankful. It's all worth it if one child's life is changed!
My mom had back surgery about a month ago and is having a very slow recovery from it. She started with back pain on Mother's Day. She was in the hospital overnight and actually was pain free for about 36 hours after surgery. But the pain returned in her leg and foot and has remained. She goes back to the doctor next week and we'll see what he says. She has spent a lot of time in the bed and can probably tell you how many dots are on the ceiling! Too much time on her hands. Our family has been great to check on her and bring her food and spend some time with her. She's enjoyed the time out of work with her sisters, just wish she felt better in the mean time. Please keep her in your prayers.
That's about all I can think of besides the day to day playtime, lunches, naps, platime, supper, baths and bed. I'm still working my three 12 hour shifts and Lee is still at the church. We're trying to enjoy our times together and looking forward to our growing family.
